Maggie bans, Maggie un-bans, Porn sites blocked, and the 69A, beef ban, possible alcohol ban, and then many more! It feels like the people of India are either rebelling against the Indian Government, or caught up in a sibling war- like situation!
Tell me though, how important is it for you to watch porn every day? “It is my right as a citizen of India!!” Chill buddy!! You have many rights as an Indian citizen than watching porn which haven’t created hype yet!
If I see India as a 3rd party, I see 2 binary things – 1. an absolute hatred for the Government, and 2. Disrespect to fellow citizen.
How can we expect to be respected if we dont respect each other? Respect to me dosnt just include talking nicely to others, anti discrimination, or even corruption.
Let me take a simple example. How many of people honk at a traffic signal? As soon as the light turns green, there’s like a symphony of horns going off. Or even honking because you want to go ahead than other people at a death speed riding/driving through the already heavy traffic. Or even lane groping. “I will drive slowly, and that’s your problem.” It’s not! It’s our problem. Honking blaringly at someone, or wrong side of the road, or even on the foot path because you want to take a short route without being concerned for the discomfort that you can cause the other drivers.
This is exactly what the Government of India is doing to all of us. Riding on the wrong side of the road, as per their convenience, with no concern for people. “Chalta hai” mantra, it’s not paying off to us as citizens or the government.
Ok, I agree that the Government dosnt care much about the trickle down economics or interests of people, and other perspectives of the Indian population, but then, so dont we!! It’s a culture that we have adapted to over time, so what’s new? We did it since Gandhi times, and we havent seemed to gotten over it yet.
I often wonder how it all happened. We united to fight for our nation, and after we got our country back, we decided to fight against each other? And the people in the Governing bodies decided that they’re going to position themselves as the British? Or was it just the idea of power so influential that it went beyond “for the country” to “for me.”
If we are to fight against the numerous crazy things that happen in India, we need to be a unit! How can you oust something without power of the population? It has to be a long standing unity cos the British left, but the Government cant leave.
I dont know how we’re going to do it, and I dont know how long it will take but the key to a better and satisfied country is to unify against that which is at power-play.
If we can spend enough energy to do the wrong, you can in unity spend lesser energy to do the right… or to stop the wrong that affects all of us. Let us start with driving the right way, less honk time, barging in queues, tipping rightly, and doing all the right things including being compassionate, empathetic, and supportive of our fellow men…. Only then can we oust the wrongs in the country.
We can slowly graduate to bigger things like decreasing the below-the-poverty line, to mediating population explosion, better lifestyle for all, better health care etc. To get to the big, we need to start with the obvious. And this doesnt include charity at the NGOs.
This 15th August, we are 69 years old. That’s a very long time to bring tremendous change. The country has changed. We’re in the limelight of the world economics, but that’s percentile statistics. What about within the country? Have we changed enough?
In a lifetime of a human in India, 69 years is a long time. As a country, how much have we improved and how far have we improvised? We have now gained formulas to monetary security, we have tasted the materialistic goods, and we have experienced a global lifestyle. That’s awesome! Let’s now move towards betterment of our society at the basic levels of humanity.
How are you planning to do better for the country you love so much this Independence day?
